Manika and I first met waaaaaaay back in 6th grade (which apparently was 17 years ago, somehow…) and we quickly became friends. Through music ensembles, AP classes, and all the wonderful stages of adolescence, we’ve experienced the good, the bad, and the awkward together, always with lots of laughter along the way. I was so excited when I heard that she and Sandeep had gotten engaged, and even more excited when we half-jokingly talked about me flying out to Nebraska to do their engagement photos for them. Hours after we had that conversation at a mutual friend’s baby shower, she texted me saying that Sandeep had secretly flown to MA to surprise her at her parents’ house, and asked if I was available to do the photos the following day. We made some very last minute plans for an engagement shoot the next morning and had a wonderful time walking around the park (despite the cold and rain). They were so relaxed and natural with each other, I barely had to give direction. As sad as I am that I won’t be able to make it to their wedding (which is in India!), I’m so honored to have been able to make these portraits for them. Congrats you two!
